Album of the Week #3
by Cooper Richards-Hancock

Released to almost zero fanfare, with a quiet instagram post being the promotion made for this album online, is quite fitting for this collection of quiet, yet intricate tracks. Like a choreographed dance routine, the acoustic instrumentation, electronic production, and field recordings all weave and complement each other to bring together an atmosphere way larger than any one element.
A standout track from this album ‘gumtrees’ creates a waltz out of a guitar and what sounds like a looped sample that's halfway between a creaking door and a trampoline, whilst gracee comes in with some soft vocals accompanied by some synthesized beep/boops and strings. All these small pieces contribute to the sort of soundscape-esque way these layers of sound all become intertwined together.
The Closer 'horizons' is the perfect ending to an already stunning run of tracks, similar to a setting sun, the steady beat slowly fades, but not before giving us a beautiful outro of organ, strings, and acoustic guitar.
In my opinion, the perfect place to listen to this would be in the park, or maybe by the side of a flowing waterfall, yet I still feel like I’m transported to these areas whilst listening to this on the bus, in my kitchen, or walking around the city, and that’s what sticks with me the most after each listen. Much like other artists (BCNR, e4444e, Ana Roxanne, Beach House) with a sort-of similar ability to transport me out of my current environment, to one that’s mystical and far away, closest i’ve ever been to the moon is a gem of an album.
